No Better Time than Now to be Intentional

No better time to officially launch my new Life-Coaching business than during a global pandemic as well. HA! I did have other plans on topics on how to start my blog. Then I felt I wouldn’t be real and true to what this whole blog would be about - true to my colors. Part of my Life-Coaching business is to help people identify the true essence of who they are and part of that is addressing the things going on inside. I’m not immune to this myself. I have a lot going on inside given the recent world events.

I admit I have been glued to my phone craving more and more information on the COVID-19 Coronavirus. Obsessed may be a better word. In the last couple years, one of the rules I have made for myself (most days) is upon first waking up I am not to grab my phone, but rather take a deep breath, get centered, and write three full pages (Thank you, Julia Cameron - The Artists Way.) Sometimes I tear the pages up and throw them away. Sometimes I keep them. However, I have completely abandoned ship and the '“panic/code red/Def Con 1 survivor” in me opens her eyes and grabs the phone. What are the numbers today? Have I missed an important press conference? Which schools have closed now? Which city has instated a declaration of emergency today? Has anyone been diagnosed that I know? None of which are crazy thoughts but clearly unhealthy practice if this continues daily for weeks on end.

Logically, there is absolutely nothing wrong with keeping up with an important global pandemic. However, I decided for myself I needed to practice self-care during this time more than ever for my sanity. Exactly where do I start? For me personally, it means despite these major changes like my kids’ school closing, possible future changes in my regular day job, I need to be intentional in my daily routines more than ever. This means not checking my phone immediately, getting up, moving my body, meditating, eating healthy, connecting (via phone) with family and friends, etc. Some may not find this a difficult task during this time but some, like me, could easily slip into a rut. Given that it’s not healthy to ignore what is going on, I allow myself an allotted time twice a day to check what is going on and the gather the necessary information.

Everyone has different handlings of life but if you find yourself slipping into a rut and need to get back in alignment with yourself maybe these little tidbits can help.
